A) More time with the kids – Let’s face it the best reason in the world for staying at home and working is you have more time to spend with your kids! Facts are facts. They grow up far too quickly and wouldn’t it be nice to see some of those things that only mums normally get to see?

B) Saves money! – OK so this isn’t the most obvious thing but let me explain how working at home can save you money. Think about all of the things you do that cost you money as they relate to your job

1. Transportation – You have to get to work somehow right? Well that normally means driving. Even if you’re a commuter, you’re still paying for the right to get to work. Sit down and do some calculations (I’ll do some for you further down!).

2. Day Care – Normally you might leave this worry to mum. But one way or another you’re paying for daycare for your children! How much does this cost?

3. Clothing – So first you have to buy a suit, a tie, socks, dress shirts, shoes.  This all adds up very quickly – and it doesn’t end there! You can’t wear the same one 5 days a week can you?

4. Dry Cleaning – Ouch… So you just spent all that money on a new suit and you’ve just got your first dry cleaning bill… need I say more.

5. Lunch – Let’s face it guys, unless the Mrs makes your lunch along with the kids every night you’re eating out at lunch time! Even if she does make your lunch, chances are you’re going out with “the lads” from time to time in spite of it!

6. Incidentals – Yep, everyone’s going out and buying coffee, tea, ice cream in summer, someone’s birthday is coming up…You get the drift.

C) Health Benefits – Just think – you’re not going to be subjected to every germ in the office. Not to mention the stress associated with downsizing, competition, and aging. There are serious health benefits to working at home.

D) Flexibility –You have a much more flexible schedule when you elect to working at home. You’re now calling the shots!

So these are just a few good reasons to consider working at home! But, we’d be misleading you if we tell you it’s all sunshine and roses! Keep reading!

This article will focus on a few aspects of what can happen if you have a good plan in place and are willing to modify it as you go along. This will work regardless of whether you are in a brick and mortar or an Internet-based business.

Plan for Getting Started

Clearly if you are just getting started, you may not have a plan in mind just yet. However, because you are just starting out, your plan is even more important than it might be to someone who is well established.Your plan needs:

1. A list of your goals
2. Milestones of Development
3. Marketing Plan
4. Projections on Manpower
5. Reality Checkpoints
6. When to change directions

You might be wondering why these are important so let’s examine them one at a time and talk about each aspect of your plan and why it’s important to follow them. You may have to learn some more Internet marketing techniques.

A list of your goals

It’s critically important to your success to map out your goals. The reason for this is that it will allow you to keep on track. Your goals should be not only your business goals, but they should include personal goals that are tied to your business goals.

Let’s say that you currently work a full time job that you are not happy with. If your long term goal is to quit that job and be entirely self employed, this is a personal goal that is tied to your business goal.

Perhaps you’re not ready to give up the steady paycheck but you can perhaps plan to save enough money to take an extra week off work, then perhaps a month off work. Maybe you want your business to earn enough for that long dreamed about vacation. These are all great examples of how a business goal ties into a person goal.

This is a great way to be able to keep track of what you are doing to achieve your goals.

Milestones of Development

Development of your business often comes at a steep cost, and this cost isn’t always financial. Understanding how much time is required to put your plan for Internet success into place can be very intimidating and can require hours of work.

Plus, you will have times when you feel like all of the hours you are spending on your business are for nothing. This is quite common, regardless of whether your business is brand new or it is established. This is one of the pitfalls of working for yourself.

Create a road-map of what you anticipate the development of your business should be. Map each “phase” from the beginning. Include what your time investment should be at each phase of your business. Of course, starting out, you are going to be required to put a lot of hours into your business, but the goal should be to reduce that over time.

Don’t be afraid to include others in your plan. One of the smartest things you can do when laying out your plan is to include someone else in it. This person can be a partner, a friend or even someone you hire. Often, having someone else with a “fresh” outlook can help you stay on track.

Marketing Plan

Marketing is the name of the game in all businesses. You must be sure that you market yourself and your business in order to get the credibility you need. Your marketing plan for Internet success should include such things as brand or name recognition, Social media involvement, personal activities, etc.

As with every other aspect of your plan, your marketing plan should include attainable goals.

Each piece of your marketing plan should contain a clear cut explanation of (a) what you hope to achieve (b) how you hope to achieve it and (c) what the anticipated outcome is. Each piece of your marketing plan should focus on all of your different marketing techniques. For instance, if your marketing consists of link building, it might look something like this:

Goal: Link Building

• Hope to Achieve – more valuable links to and from my website
• How to Achieve – by providing relevant and meaningful content,forums, comments, social, guest posts
• Anticipated Outcome – a increased and regular flow of new traffic to my website

This “model” can be used for each aspect of your marketing strategy.

Am I building a business that services you – my readers? 

A week into January I decided that it really was going to be my year this year , 2013 was going to bring about some serious changes. I wanted to streamline my online activity and focus more on creating a hub that was easy to identify with.

I have two serious missions that I’m tackling -

1. Consistently make £ xxxx pm online, 5 figures will be soon.
2. Help as many people as I can start their own online businesses.

With my online focus being on nothing but those 2 goals it’s a lot easier to see the wood from the trees.

It all started with a coaching call I had with Craig Desorcy after hearing Tiffany Dow rave so much about his over the last couple of years. Like so many who have paid for 1 on 1 coaching the value I received was immense – and started a chain of events.

Offering A Better Service

I knew that I was capable of a hell of a lot more, I let fear – and all kinds of other crazy excuses – stop me from getting myself out there as someone that you can reach out to and get help from.

I’m a natural trainer and I should be sharing what I know about getting started in/and tweaking an online business. I aimed to offer better quality of service and this was how I set about doing it…

Online Breakthrough Call

The first thing I wanted to instigate straight away was an online coaching call similar to what I’d experienced with Craig. I knew I had a lot of information I just had to connect with the right audience. I wrote a small post on my blog and the Skype calls slowly but surely started to happen. I’m really glad with the results there too.

Reduce Web Properties

I wanted to make sure I had time to fit in the Skype calls, however my focus was all over the place with over 70 websites under my belt. Some were from year 1 of me being online and had never even turned an honest dollar, they had to be cut loose. Even blogs that were paying me I decided to let go so I could better focus my attentions. I aim to run no more than 15 or 20 max.

STOP building websites

I don’t know if you test a niche with a  web 2.0 like a Squidoo or a Hubpages or similar – me, I just go straight for the new wordpress build. Once you build websites that rank BTF style it doesn’t really make sense starting with a squidoo lens. The work you put in selecting the right key phrases may as well go onto your own web property I always say. So no more random Niche websites

Structure Blogging Time

One of the things that I was forced to look at after I finished reviewing blogging with John Chow was the frequency of my blogging, and where I posted. I never followed a blog schedule I’m far too good at creating excuses for that
But no more excuses, I’m stripping away distractions that don’t fall in with the master mission to make way for better service… This is STILL my biggest challenge.

Making More Money

Well here’s the thing – I’ve set myself a financial goal to reach by the end of this year. I haven’t got any of my own products as yet so all the online revenue comes from affiliate and local business marketing. As more local work comes onto the horizon I won’t feel so bad about cutting away websites that didn’t quite fit the business model.

I really am not going to focus my energy on anything else than “submerging myself in service” as Craig calls it, and building a relationship with you my readers of Mission0ps.com, and my list.

I want to really get to know you and make sure I produce the goods you need.

Connecting my audience is ready to start growing an online business and some are ready to take their online ventures to the next step. If I can keep offering solutions and services that fit that criteria - the money will look after itself.

• Lastly with the site “set up with wordpress” I finally finished some off-site SEO work and you’ll see me on the 1st page of google for a cool keyword now too!

So I’ve got a bit to do .. especially on the ”STOP” building websites front
Well I’m sure there won’t be any more … until Kyle asks me to have his own “real” wordpress website too.

We must get out of that habit peeps it’s holding us back – Imperfect action won’t hinder you. If your message is quality and delivers results, then it’s a good job done.

Here’s what I’m thinking…

If you offer a solution and it works and you can get that solution into the hands of your readers – the fact that your video’s aren’t perfect or you don’t have professional images won’t matter to them. If you fix their problem your a winner.. & they’ll be back.

I’ve been around online for about 4 years and in that time I’ve been in and out of plenty of online forums. There are only 3 that I rate and Wealthy Affiliate is one of them.  These 3 membership forums all have 1 thing in common – The founders have rock solid ethics and put the training and education of members first.

The Interview with Kyle had 10 -13 questions. You can read Kyle’s answers here. In this post I’m going to give my views on Kyle’s answers.

If you subscribe to mission0ps.com  you’ll know that I don’t really wrap my opinion in cotton wool. Some of what I say may rub folks up the wrong way. Don’t be surprised by what you read.

I asked “What’s the most useful tool that you’ve purchased” - Kyles answer to the first question would get him zero points in the real world. I said he could not have one of the tools he developed.  He also states that he has never bought a tool online!

Q#2 I asked “What was the very first thing you sold online” –  Hosting and still in the niche, did you know Wealthy Affiliate offer free hosting to their members?He also mentioned a niche that I am almost sure he’s generated $1’000’000 of sales in.  I think that because he has a $1’000’000 blueprint for the members in that niche.

Q#3 Shows me that Kyle really does “get it” as a leader. Far too many get a wining formula then that’s it…  Read what Kyle says about learning.

Q#4 I didn’t really get a direct answer. But I can kinda gauge buy what he said that he’s deadly serious about nailing in! I know others would be happy to just roll with it.

You can read the rest of the interview with Kyle wealthy affiliate founder for yourself. I will say #5 is spot on as Kyle answers that tricky ole question “how long is a piece of string?” Kyles answer to 7a leaves me thinking “if” that’s the case you miss so much!

I chuckled at the last answer for #9 it’s $….’… I checked! And tell me this is Kyles answer to Q #10 a cop out or real Zen?

My Take on Kyle from the WA - 

Bottom line I can see that Kyle has some very deep seated principles. He doesn’t follow fashion he has his own “style” this translates in many ways and even in his online activity.

Those close to Kyle would say that he’s very focused and almost clinical. With an analytical mind Kyle is at his best when he is growing seed ideas.

A great leader, but be careful, he doesn’t suffer fools lightly. (Read Kyles answers here)

• - It clarifies exactly what you want in life and helps you understand how to get it.
• - You develop an appreciation for each moment.
• - The negative things that are holding you back are revealed to you.
• - You learn how to create a more fulfilling life for yourself.

How to Wake up and Live More Consciously

Reflecting is a habit and a skill. It’s something that takes practice in order to do really well. Here are some things you can do to get started.

Question Everything

Autopilot means that you don’t question anything. You just go through your routine. From your morning cup of coffee to your nighttime teeth-brushing, you just go along with it. Start questioning things and don’t be satisfied with the answers. Be skeptical about your own thoughts and keep questioning them until you arrive at the truth.

Look at Your Habits

Habits are things you do without thinking about them. They’re grooves that you fall into. Are your habits healthy, productive and beneficial? Or could they stand to go? Why do you keep doing them? Look closely at your habits and identify which are helpful and which aren’t. Take the habits you don’t like and replace them with new ones. Work on one habit at a time and be patient – it takes time to change.

Chart Your Time

For a few days, keep a log of all the things that you do. Keep it up for longer if you can. This time log will be extremely eye-opening. You’ll see exactly where your time goes. Do you spend enough time with your family or doing things you love? Or is it all taken up by work and things to do? Once you know, you can create your own time budget and take charge of your daily schedule.

A Fresh Start

What’s the first thing you do each day? The first thing you do sets the tone for the entire day that follows. If you leap out of bed and start getting ready for work, you feel stressed and frazzled. Get up earlier if you have to and spend the first few minutes of your day doing things you enjoy.

Set Aside Time to Reflect

Schedule a little time each day for doing nothing but sitting and reflecting. It’s just as important as work or family duties. During this time, look honestly at your thoughts and feelings. It may help you to keep a journal. Journaling organizes your thoughts and keeps a record of them that you can go back and check later.

Living consciously means taking charge of your life. Instead of just taking what you’ve been given, you decide what you want and go after it. It takes more responsibility on your part but it’s well worth it.

What stops most of us is that we live in our illusions. We don’t understand the world around us. In fact, we don’t even understand our own thoughts and feelings. Identifying your illusions and dispelling them is an essential step in living your life more consciously.

What Are Illusions?

Illusions are mental misrepresentations. In other words, they’re thoughts that are wrong. Most often, they come from outside sources such as the media, society or the people around us. They may also come from inside, created by your beliefs and ideas. Usually, we cling to these illusions because we believe they make us happy, but true happiness comes from dispelling them and discovering the truth behind each one.

Follow Your Thoughts

How do you identify illusions? The best practice is to follow your thoughts back to their source. Let’s say that you’re trying to diet but you’re plagued by negative thoughts that tell you it’s impossible for you to lose weight. When do these thoughts occur? If you look closely, you’ll find that they’re triggered by certain events.

For example, whenever something frustrates you, you might start harping on your inability to lose weight. It could be something totally unrelated to dieting or stress from other areas of your life. When these thoughts arise out of the blue, this is a sure sign that you’re dealing with illusions.

The truth is that you create your own thoughts. You have to take responsibility for them. External events don’t make you think or feel anything. If you understand this, you can then ask yourself, ‘Why do I choose to think that at this time?’ You’ll then find that you’re using these thoughts to beat up on yourself, fend off anxiety, or give yourself an excuse to quit trying.

Dispelling Illusions with Reason

Once you identify and claim your thoughts and feelings as your own, it’s time to look for evidence. This is a process called reason. It means supporting ideas with some tangible evidence from the real world.

The best way to apply reason is to take your claim (‘I can’t lose weight’) and look for evidence to support it. Evidence might be things like: you fell off the wagon and binged last weekend, you’re up 2 pounds from last week, you can’t stop obsessing over the foods you want to eat.

Now, take the opposite statement (‘I can lose weight’). Look for evidence to support that and go back into the past if you need to. For example, you may have put on 2 pounds this week, but you’ve lost 10 over the last month. You binged last weekend but aside from that one slip-up, you’ve stayed on course. You obsess over food cravings, but you don’t act on them. When you consider all the evidence, you’ll arrive at the truth.

Clear Language

One of the best ways to steer clear of illusions generally is to be careful what words you use. Stay away from words like ‘always’ and ‘never.’ Reality simply doesn’t accord with these two words because things are always changing. These words mean that it can’t change.

You should also keep your language in the positive. For example, ‘I can’t lose weight’ is a no-no. Negative phrases don’t help you achieve anything in life, even if you feel that there’s truth to them. When you reframe these phrases so that they’re positive, this better reflects reality.

You may actually discover certain illusions that you like even though you know they’re false. Is there anything wrong with that? Not really, as long as you’re aware of it. Conscious living is all about awareness, and as long as you know what you really think and feel, you can figure out how to make yourself happy.

Stop Parenting

When you parent consciously, you relate to your children and operate with them on their level. All too often, we feel that we have to be the ‘parent.’ What does it mean to be the parent? It means imitating whatever your parents did, whether it was good or bad, or whether it worked or not.

Don’t take the cookie cutter approaching with your kids. Instead, be present with them and respond to them on their own level. When it comes to discipline, for example, try things out to see what works. Use what you learn from experience with your children rather than experience with your parents from the past.

Reign in Your Rage

Conscious parenting means learning how to control your anger. Kids will always do things that frustrate and drive you crazy. But when you snap and get angry, it doesn’t help. They don’t learn anything from your anger and there’s no benefit for you whatsoever.

When you get angry you lose control. Teaching your children discipline requires that you keep control. When enforcing rules you should be firm but compassionate. Never lose your rapport with them and go into ‘parent mode.’ Be firm and do it from a calm place.

Simple and Clear Instructions

Give your kids simple instructions and lead by example. Do it yourself to show them how it’s done. Children pay attention to what you do, not what you say. If what you say conflicts with what you do, they’ll notice.

The goals you set for you kids should also be simple. Work on only one goal at a time. Parents often give their kids too much to deal with at once and it overwhelms them. Make their goals a team effort. The team is you and them working together.

Encouragement and Praise

It is okay, however, to overwhelm your kids with encouragement and praise. Always let them know that you’re proud of them for what they’ve done. Make sure they fully understand how much you appreciate and love them.

Rewards always work better than punishments. When teaching new behavior, try rewarding them for a job well done. When you need to punish them, take away a reward that they love and always tell them the reason why.

Give them a way to get it back. Always do it with respect and love.

Let Your Kids Explore

Give your kids space and allow them the chance to try things themselves. Kids are natural explorers. Don’t force things or do too much for them. Your role is to model behavior and guide them to doing it themselves. Observe and help.

Like all things, parenting takes practice. You won’t be a great parent instantly. First-time parents are usually overwhelmed by all they have to learn, but it’s actually really simple. Always show your love and respect, and take the time you need to reflect regularly.

Conscious living helps tremendously in reaching your goals. It helps you to be clear on what you really want and honest about your abilities. It also teaches awareness and love of process, which is crucial in meeting your goals. If you’re only thinking about the end result and getting there, it’s impossible to make progress.

This practice also helps you know yourself better. You can identify negativity and other barriers that are holding you back. It’s often difficult to see how your own negativity is poisoning your progress. Conscious living teaches you true awareness of yourself and your feelings.

Question the Answers

Conscious living is all about asking questions. Through questioning our thoughts, actions and motives, we arrive at the real nugget of truth buried within. But the best approach is not to simply answer questions; you also have to question answers.

Ask yourself what you really want and you’ll produce an answer. While you may answer honestly (or so you think), you should never be satisfied with that first answer. Self-deception is a serious thing. Instead, question all of your answers and throw everything at them that you possibly can. Do this enough, and you may arrive at some surprising truths you didn’t realize before.

Brutal Honesty

When questioning yourself and searching for the inner truth, be brutally honest. Don’t hold anything back. The key is to find out how you really feel even if it’s unpleasant for you. The reason is that if you pursue goals based on false desires, you’ll never attain them.

Let’s say you want to lose weight. You’re concerned about your health and the risk of illnesses that being overweight brings. But after questioning hard, you arrive at the real reason you want to lose weight – You want to be more attractive to the opposite sex.

Is this really a good reason? Surely your health is a better reason. Actually, there is on ‘good’ or ‘bad’; there’s simply what’s true and what’s not. If you pursue your weight loss goals because you truly want to look GOOD instead of because you think you’re worried about your health, you’ll go much further.

Reflect on Paper

Writing a journal is essential for conscious living and goal attainment. It’s good to spend time reflecting, but when you do so on paper things are much clearer. You have a chance to organize your thoughts and also keep a record of your progress.

If it seems funny to you or writing isn’t your thing, imagine that you’re writing letters to yourself. Some people find that writing to your future self works well. Anyway’s I’m here at checking my emails and considering I opt-in in to quite a few lists over a week I often switch on the laptop to at least 50 emails to my main that I’ve been too lazy to set up filtering for. So whilst scanning the subject lines one stands out, it read:

I can’t remember exactly when I signed up to this list, I think it was about 3 weeks ago but I hadn’t got around to actually looking at what the emails I’d been receiving were about, apart from a list of 25 something!

With so many I usually just put a tick in the delete box, but today was different and was really intreagued but the title of “Featured List25 of the Day” I don’t recall what led me to this website to opt-in to their list in the first place; but it must have been one of those days when I was not working, or reviewing or checking but just browsing!

I had a good giggle at some of the signs there, especially as I’m a 47yr old father of 2 who still fantasises about being a Ninja! You’ll understand when you see the list25 website…

List25 compiles lesser-known intriguing information on a variety of subjects. List25 was started by David Pegg and Syed Balkhi . These college roommates from University of Florida loved finding bizarre yet interesting information on the internet, and sharing it with their friends.

People don’t always think of the setup in their office as the root cause of muscle pain, but it can play a major role in aches and pains that you feel throughout the work week.

Sitting in a comfortable office chair could be the cure to all the pain that you are feeling.

If you aren’t convinced that the horrible back aches you have been experiencing are simply the result of a chair, go to a store and try out a new one. Many stores will have display models of office furniture set up, and you may be able to sit in a chair to see just how comfortable it is.

You’ll probably find that there are some chairs that you would be much more comfortable in if all you have in your office is a cheap chair that you have been using for years. Older chairs with this sort of construction can have foam pads that have worn down over time, resulting in a reduced amount of cushioning and comfort.

Look for office chairs with high backs. These will support your entire back, not just the lower portion. There is a tendency to lean forward with lower chairs, and this creates tension and muscle cramps after a long day at work. The chair you pick out should be tall enough to reach over your head so that it can support your neck when you lean back.

The material that your new chair will be constructed from may mean a lot to you in terms of status. Naturally, many will want leather furniture to show wealth and prestige. While these can be beautiful, there are other cotton fabrics that make nice chairs at more affordable prices.

Most leather office chairs have the “Executive” style that features a high back. You may find it difficult to find cotton chairs that feature this type of back in stores, since most retail customers offline will be looking for leather furniture to furnish their office with. There are some sites online that have a more diverse selection of office furniture that is made from alternative fabrics.

The chairs that you look at during your shopping excursion will help you determine what product will work best in your office. Think about each piece of furniture that you are trying to decide upon based on the comfort level and the price in order to figure out what to buy.

Stop and Breathe

Have you ever stopped and paid attention to how you breathe? If you’re like most people, you probably take quick gasping breaths and this is not good. How you breathe affects both your body and mind, so it’s important to give it some considerations.

If you can learn to breathe deeply and slowly, following the natural rhythm of your body, you’ll have a much easier time with everything. Spend a few minutes each day practicing deep breathing. Fill up your belly like a balloon and expel the air naturally. When you get better at this, you’ll be able to take a ‘breather’ anytime things get rough.

Health Check

Are you eating, exercising and sleeping right? Most people aren’t. When you think about getting into better shape, it probably makes your skin crawl. Who has time to worry about food labels and run laps around the gym?

Even a few tiny improvements to your health will make a tremendous difference in your stress level. Don’t worry about an entire lifestyle overhaul. Try to eat more nutrient-rich foods like leafy green vegetables and whole grains. Spend 20-30 minutes three times a week doing something that gets your heart pumping, even if it’s just rigorous walking. Make sure you get plenty of sleep each night and rearrange your schedule around it if you need to.

Daydream

When things get hectic, do you wish you could run away to a quiet place? Maybe it’s a white sand beach or a cabin high in the mountains. You may not be able to run away to that place right now in the middle of your busy day, but close your eyes for a few minutes and you can almost feel like you’re there.

Daydreaming is a great way to stop stress, but mental health experts call it something else – creative visualization. It means using your imagination and the more you do it, the better it works. Visualize a place and make that image as detailed as possible. Use all five of your senses to really experience it. Spend some quality time there whenever you feel stressed.

Waste Your Time

Are you so productive that you don’t have time for any time wasters – even the ones you enjoy? That’s a mistake and it’s probably raising your stress level. Setting aside a little bit of time to do something totally unproductive each day really helps you keep stress levels down. Schedule your play time just like your work time. Indulge in a hobby, game, or just staring out the window and enjoying the sunshine.

You don’t have to let stress stop you. Try out these easy stress busting tips and you’ll see a huge change in how you feel in no time. It’ll be much easier to get through your day.

I was buzzing around looking at Northampton tweets for a new secret project I’ve just started up. I have a rough idea and a skeleton but all that is another story for another day!

I’ve been doing a little research on local businesses in Northampton lately, and I found a fabulous local company that I have spotted that has had great success. They are called Engine Creative and what seems to be apparent to little old me me is the question what are they, Are they a Creative design agency with authority?

Let me explain.

I came across their website and thought fab a local business you don’t find often..:

• Clear work ethic
• Good reputation
• Great portfolio
• Social presence

They should be killing it! These guys seem to be a local creative design agency worth shouting about. So I did a quick search for “Creative design agency” without quotes in google I didn’t see them on the front or the second page…

That got me thinking,I wonder what online strategy they have? Is this Northampton creative design agency doing the basics? So first things first I need to discover their market.

I wonder how many folks are actually searching for a top end creative design company in the UK? so I jumped over to good old google adwords and this is what they told me:

I have to say the search term of creative design as broad as it looks is a great possibility for client list building and funnelling, That seems interesting, I even did the numbers and looked up a little Jaaxy info, the targeting of keywords such as

2. Brand Logo Design
3. Brand design agencies
4. Brand identity design firm
5. Corporate branding design
6. Corporate brand identity

I began to get a clearer picture of the niche keyword opportunity with Jaaxy.

Engine Creative Agency Social: The Directors!

Matt Key is the Managing Director of Engine Creative Agency and I can see he’s into 3D animation, a buzz word that would place him ahead of competitors needs weaving into 3D animation agency into the portfolio. Also a cool 3D animated informercial is not difficult to get viral and would be a really neat and unique USP.

Phil Christer the Creative Director has Matt have linkedin on the company website. There is a slightly better image you would get from Phil, but If I were a potential client, I wonder if I would be sticking around?

Andy Wise Strategic Director is last member of the board of directors that I get acquainted with. So, by this time I am aware that this company could look a whole lot better online. Andy does have some more relevant keywords associated with his Linkedin profile though!

My Engine Creative Agency: Northampton Creative Design Summary

They do great work and that is without a doubt, the portfolio speaks for itself and is a great asset that needs leveraging. The online presence isn’t targeted… So leaving clients still looking… shame.

Engine Creative socially is up but is it effective? They could benefit from brand profile being revamped and addressed, Facebook fanpage needs to be a little more engaging, I love the idea of the give away, but who are YOU targeting Engine Creative on FB?

The only mention of marketing on linkedin takes you completely off base and needs the fixed and fast!..

Set upon a campaign of getting found for the keywords listed in this  and reap the benefits that come with that. Sell your services not your brand

The usability of your website, is it actually set up for the end user? A hint: it maybe me but i’d say it’s well worth split testing as those navigation bars really don’t agree with me!

Please do coach your team in what happens when they answer the phone!

For almost 2 years I have been banging on at Tim to have a proper look at online marketing. He’s very smart very computer literate but like most Students in Northampton he’s unemployed and had little chance of securing full-time employment when he graduates next year.

It’s not just Tim that is finding it hard to get a job Northampton, even part time jobs in this student town are non-existent. In fact listening to the news today, it’s not just students in Northampton that is having a hard time of it, reports of 1,600,000 16-24yr olds are unemployed in the UK. That’s even up from last week!

These numbers are rising and now there is even a name for the young unfortunates, they are called NEET youngsters. (Not in education, employment or training). I asked Tim if he was up for joining the NEET brigade when he graduates! The look I got said it all, in case your wondering it was a very firm NO!

Tim is more than aware of my online ventures and I have been trying to get him to see the benefit of just a simple blog on at least one his favourite subjects which happen to be massive niches!  Tim’s passions are COD (call of duty) and Carp fishing, if you read any of my online marketing blogs you’ll know that these are big money niches.

For Tim even though he is a sceptical non-believer It’s as easy as 1,2,3. The guy knows COD inside out, I’m sure he would get from one camp to any other position on the map blind-folded, and as far as Fishing well I am not even going to start, apart from the specialised local fishing knowledge, the guy makes his own boillies (bait) and everything!

Sharing his knowledge and tips are all he has to do to gain a bit of trust and authority in these niches, actually it works that way in any niche. Building trust will enable you to sell a lot easier and beats getting student jobs in Northampton.

Opening email I see the familiar message “New user registration on your site Mission0ps dot com” As I mentioned on the last post, mission0ps.com is a relatively new blog my focus is on being a resource for those wanting to try the online marketers path, I’m keen to see who is on-board.

but I am sick to the teeth of folks just registering to get a backlink. I have users register with the user name “like this site” or even “Vira Url” Come on…Keyword users are tolerated, its business right, but not even trying to think of a name is surely a sign of desperation of any back-link! Of course these new registered readers are the same ones that leave comments like:

“I find your good message after my cousin told me to visit at your site, I am glad he did, please write more on this subject” -  This is a great example of why you shouldn’t sign up, as as soon as I see a comment like that it’s all about how fast I a hit the delete key, don’t waste your time or mine!

Then we come to the “What’s wrong with this site” question. And I ain’t talking about Mission0ps.com either, I’m talking about many of the websites of the folks linking in.

Let’s just take a quick look at an example here. Now if you read mission0ps.com then you should be able to tell me what’s wrong with this site:

This site is in a great niche and has the potential to generate some regular sales… BUT they are now doing the basic wordpress SEO steps that will get them noticed in the SERP’s.

Throwing up a site and sticking adsense and Amazon links on it tells me there is little focus on this site . I could list loads of improvements that the webmaster needs to administer. At least the site would get indexed then! But seeing that they are linking to my site looking for link juice I’ll let them READ my blog instead then again at least they will get indexed now just because I’m linking to them!

Creating Nurturing an environment for “rapport” is essential for me to know if I am delivering the content you are looking for, if you are getting enough of it and in the right language? Hearing your thoughts, suggestions, experiences and ideas is like you throwing me gold coins.

So get interactive with me while I try out a couple of new wordpress plugins, Livefyre Comments and Smart Sharing that hopefully makes it easier for us to engage.

Smart Sharing

For a webmaster getting your content shared, FB liked, Stumbled or dugg is great for rankings (ego) and readership. Smart Sharing is a plugin that wrapped all hose together and it’s free. I was looking around to get some info for a post, when I arrived at the WPBeginner website, there is a LOT of good wordpress stuff on that site!

Anyway I decided to sign up to their newsletter, the 1st response in their auto responder had the download for the Smart Sharing plugin.

On this blog there seems to be some conflict that I have to figure out, probably another plugin, but I do have it installed on affiliatebuddy.com and it works OK over there. The Smart sharing scrolls up and down in the readers browser out of the way of the content but very visible none the less. I love the look of it on the screen, the background colour was really easy to change too.

As well as the background colour the customisation also allows you to adjust the distance from the top and the edge of the page. The only down sides (bar the compatability fix) is you can only display the smart share plugin on the left hand side of your blog but that looks cool enough I think. However I did have to disable my old fb likebutton for the plugin to work properly at affiliatebuddy. (I’ve added some code at the bottom of the post for extra buttons)

Livefyre

This little number I literally stumbled across whilst commenting on another blog! I’m trying hard to think which blog it was but I honestly cant remember.. but again it’s a very visual plugin and I love the simple way thelivefyre comments are stacked ad the gravtar is auto enabled.

There is a lot more to Livefyre than meets the eye. It’s the first comment system “that I have come across” that easily integrates facebook and twitter into the comment stream and promotes cross platform conversations.

Livefyre comments are integrated with the social web to boost social interaction. Users can connect their twitter account and facebook account. This lets them tag their friends in your site’s comments. For example when we comment, we can mention any user that we follow by simply adding the @username. It will also notify the user in the specific network. If that person choose to reply to the tweet or facebook status, that conversation will be pulled back to the specific post.

That quote was pulled from WPbeginner as well, ad while I think about it that was where I first saw livefyre too! There is a bit of concern from users about readers having to “log-on” to leave a comment, but with the ammount of spam I get to real comments I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Installing on your wordpress is a snip too, as this Livefyre video shows.

 Extra bits for Smart Sharing…

I found some code after a bit of digging that you can just paste into the custom field to give you the linkedin ad google+1 buttons.

All I added was the <p>to space out the buttons a bit and I centred the google +1 with <center>as it floats to the left.

#1 Don’t Expect Profits Straight Away

Since young start-up companies need time to develop, they often need hours of labour with little cash reward. You must treat time just like any other investment, if it’s well-spent, it will pay off and you will reap the rewards.

#2 Treat Failures as Stepping Stones

Every time you goof, fail or make a mistake, remember that means there’s one fewer mistake between you and your success. The best way to learn how to do something is to totally try and often fail at it – and then analyse and reflect on what you could and will do differently next time.

There’s no point in feeling disheartened . Simply learn adapt and put into action your findings.

#3 Don’t Resist Change- Change is Good!

Pemberton’s brain tonic was supposedly a cure for horrible-sounding ailments like, “Neuralgia,” “Hysteria…” and “Melancholia.” But there’s no way that Coca-Cola would be the massive corporation it is today if they hadn’t started marketing their “beverage cure” as a soft drink.

As an entrepreneur, don’t let carefully-laid plans blinker you from far better opportunities.

#4 It’s Never Too Early to Start Branding

By sticking with a tasteful, timeless image, Coca-Cola has turned their logo into an icon. Your brand starts on the same day as your business – so be deliberate and consistent from the get-go.

Even if your business doesn’t have a logo or color scheme, you still have a brand to maintain. You’re building your brand every time you talk with a client or type out a tweet or profile/page update on your facebook fanpage.

#5 Fear Not – Brand Big

Brands like Nike, Apple, and Coca-Cola have permeated the collective subconscious by embodying big feelings and ideas that we all can relate to.

Of course, those companies also have multi-million dollar marketing budgets and you probably don’t. But if you have a firmly set vision for what emotions and ideas you want people to associate with your business, it will shine through.

The Biggest Brand in the World

Today, Coca-Cola is widely considered the biggest brand in the world – but it has something in common with even the smallest start-up: it began with just an entrepreneur and an idea. How will you apply the story of Coca-Cola to your own business?
