Tips From Blogging With John Chow
Blogging with John Chow eh! you don’t get an offer like that every day do you? John Chow is like the daddy of personal blogs that make a killing! ($40k a month from 1 blog!)
I’ve had the blogging with John Chow for a while, I was reviewing for another website. It was so good that I wanted to share what I’m learning with you.
If you know anything about me you’ll know that I’m a great believer in training and getting better at what you do. I heard a great saying the other day:
If you chase two rabbits you’re going to loose them both
That sticks me in the bottom of my foot like a thorn – I’ve got to put my hand up to chasing 2 rabbits.. hey we all can’t be perfect can we!
Two Rabbits and John Chow
I’ve got to get the 2 Rabbits out the way first. As I reviewed the John Chow Product I had many a revelation. One was that I was chasing too many rabbits. With me it’s my undisciplined traffic delivery to my own niche websites. I get so buzzed up about getting the site built and ranked for a search term.
I’m only doing 25%of the work and that costs me big time. I figure I’m only getting 10-15% of the revenue the sites can deliver. If I was as eager to drive traffic as I was to create new niche sites – would I really get 9 times more revenue? – The answer is a not so welcomed yes… Shocking revelation that’s bottom line basic’s stuff!
Before I go on I have to give props to Tiffany Dow, it’s being on her list that learn’t about John Chows new blogging course.
At first I was skeptical - There was a reputation of shady websites that went along with the name John Chow, and we all know ‘there ain’t no smoke without fire’! All that seems to be long gone and John has worked hard at cleaning up his online business.
Blogging with John Chow has 9 packed modules a 30 day action plan bonus video and a free report… For $37 I’d say it looks like I certainly got my moneys worth just thinking about my rabbits!

There is a message on the home page that say’s don’t skip anything.. and after listening to Johns welcome video on the members side I think that it may be good advice!
The Guts - Blogging With John Chow Module 1
JC tackles that big ole question – what shall I write about?
It’s quite easy for me, to sit and be really objective with another business – yet sometimes it’s little refreshers like I got in module 1 that give you the kick up the butt that’s needed.
I’ve been able to iron out a few kinks with what Module 1 get me thinking about and the results should be fairly noticeable in my own productivity and focus.
There are a collection of a few good sources for checking out what your niche is up to. There’s nothing new to me there but yet again it’s a prompt to getting focused on my niche… take Mission0psdotCom on this blog I blog about what I’m working with/on within the realm of internet marketing, keeping you uptodate with my own IM tool kit. Where as on www.abalthazar.com it’s another side of me that’s a bit more emotionally driven and personal.
The second part is a brief outline of getting your branding right in your head – what makes you different, and what do you bring to the table. Action points created from that bit had me updating here on mission0psdotCom. Once you’ve got that sorted the foundations in your head & on paper … it’s a good start!
Take Away
Stay true to you passions in what you write about and you will be right on track. There are numerous ways to find what’s trending in your niche – so there are a plenty of options for subject matter for your blog. Covering what’s not so good is as valuable as writing about what’s hot in your niche. Just stay true to being you!

If you are looking for ideas on “what to write about” I downloaded a great little PDF with loads of ideas for blog posts 100+ you can get it over at www.nicoleonthenet.com and while your there have a peak she knows her shizzle.
Blogging with Chow Module 2
Blogging platforms to use – really there is only one that serious bloggers use and that’s a self hosted wordpress blog. The bottom line is wordpress is more flexible and more user friendly and search engine friendly than another. Wordpress.org self hosted over wordpress.com sites as wordpress.com does not allow you to monetize your site freely – There is a real chance of getting your website deleted for having affiliate links on it.
Plugins are touched upon and I’m holding my own there with John’s recommended plugins … except for one that I will enable soonish!
With wordpress themes I tend to agree with John. Free themes are great and the choice is huge – but when your blog starts to get a little traction, there is nothing worst than being forced to change your blog theme because the developer hasn’t keep up with wordpress core updates. a paid theme will serve you better. Probability says it’s going to catch up with you and bite you in the rear.
Take Away
Start with a wordpress self hosted and learn to use wordpress as it. Investing in your web presence is important. Branding yourself should start from the word go.
It’s about time I looked at changing the Theme on this blog!
