Animated Presentation or PowerPoint Template?
It’s a question that should have you jumping up and down shouting:
animated presentation over a presentation with PowerPoint (ppt) anyday!
Did you know power point has been around for over 35 years? And let’s not go hating on ppt just yet. I’m sure we’ve all used PowerPoint at some time or another and produced some very good work with it… Even the 7 days to affiliate marketing course used ppt presentation.
Holding Progress Back
Time for a serious upgrade in presentation tools needed wouldn’t you think … but something has been holding progress back ... what do you think that might be?
I think the problem that stands in the face of progress is cost – creating a presentation in ppt is free. Who among us will dip his hand into his pocket when you can create a presentation for free?
So some have looked at using mind-maps As refreshing as they may be to slightly more boring bullet points. Mind-map software is one option that I have myself considered.
You can do it with free mind-map software and record your screen with free software like they have at screencast-o-matic.com.
It’s a walk around, but it also “feels” like a work around too though. Take a peek at the presentation below – I’ll explain more below…

PowToon Presentations
Powtoon is a way of getting animated clips into your presentations for free. It’s super simple to use as you saw it’s literally drag and drop. The timeline is built automatically as you drop in your images and hey presto - One of the great benefits to note is that PowToons are created Your almost good to go.
I say almost as there are a whole bunch of features that are well worth exploring. Once you start to creating a presentation with PowToon you’ll notice that tweaking and changing your animation gives you thousands of opportunities to get your message across that will have great impact.
When To Use PowToons
Recently animated video presentations like these have only been available to high end marketers – they cost a few thousand dollars to get produced if you don’t use something like powtoon. Now with the ability to create quick 5 minute presentations for free …

PowToons Pro Stepping Up A Notch
If you need your presentations to last longer than the 5 minutes offered by the free version of PowToon – you may consider the premium versions PowToon Pro listed below.
A) Pay Per Use – from $8/per export - This option lets you download your PowToons to your PC ready to upload anywhere you want. The downloads are free from PowToon Branding, but still only a Maximum of 5 minutes in length.
B) Professional – from $19 /month – This seems by far the best value. As the pay-per export there is no PowToon Branding, but the video exports can be up to 15 minutes in length. You are also able to upload the presentation to YouTube in HD format.
C) Agency – from $57/pm All the above with the added format of “full HD” So that’s download 60 mins of video presentation and upload it anywhere including with one click to YouTube all in HD. Or 8 mins of Full HD recording.
I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you to chose the package which suits your needs.
I’m pretty sure free works well for most of us. .. After all there is no limit on how many PowToons you can create with your free account.
But I can totally understand the need for an unbranded PowToon – In fact that brings me to my only complaint about the PowToon Software.
The price points can be a little are deceiving. I created a quick PowToon for my YouTube trailer channel video and decided that I didn’t want to have the water mark and $8 was a fair price for a bit of unique branding.
That’s when I found out… You can’t buy individual video rights – you need to get a package deal
The cheapest you can get an unbranded powtoon presentation is by buying 5 HD exports as a price for $70 To get the great deal of $8 per/export you’d have to buy 25 package costing you $200.
The professional package that has the $19/mth price tag is available buy paying $228 which gives you a whopping 66% discount through out the year.
PowToon Free still works OK here’s a quickie one I did below.
Creating your first PowToon
Usually I’d create a video and show you how to use the software, but I’ll leave that for now as it really is click simple.
There are several training video’s on the PowToon website that you’ll have a handle on how to create your own PowToon in minutes.
Try it – have a go at creating a PowToon
I bet you’ll soon be thinking of way’s to spice up your old presentation skills.

I think it might depend on the nature of the presentation. I don’t recommend too much animation in a professional slide presentation. Plus, many companies would rather stick to their corporate branded slide templates.
But for more creative purposes or artsy reasons, animation is great. Quite the attention catcher.
Great insight. Thanks for sharing.
Best,
Nikki
Hey Nikki – I totally agree not too much animation on a professional presentation is a good call.
However I do think that a corporate branded slide template still runs the risk of just being another ppt background.
I’ve had a look at the ones on your linked site and they look a LOT better than the standard .. and they do look appropriately priced … Foe the corporate world.
Cheers for popping over
