Tips From Blogging With John Chow pt3
Hi Peeps Back on the blogging with John Chow review and module 5 next is the biggie of list building. Again there is a quick intro video - and John starts with an an interesting statement -
The email list is the foundation to your online business and the blog is just a mechanism to get people onto your email list.
I like that.. John mentions, as does every other marketer – that he regrets not starting his email list from day 1!
I’m sure you know that building list means offering something of value to your readers. The old fashion “get my eBook is pretty lame and I doubt that subscribers will be beating down your door for an eBook unless it’s something they haven’t seen or heard of before – The top ‘bribe’ as JC call is for getting people to join an email list is something that I totally agree with -after all it’s 2013 and your readers are far more savvy than they were 5 years ago!

One that JC has on his list is free tools – I think that’s a great idea and cnet.com can easily become be your buddy for that, they have a download section that full of free & useful Windows and Mac software.
The next couple of pages cover content and the importance of super awesome content that goes out to your list. If someone subscribes and the email you send them is at best just OK – they will hardly be in a rush to pop open the next email you send. If you are not adding value and bringing something new to the table … Expect a lot of unsubscribe’s .. that’s if your bribe was enough to get them to enter their email in the first place.
Should you promote in every email?
Yes you should, but don’t get me wrong and think “affiliate sales” I’m taking about other things as well as products or services. You can promote your facebook or twitter account, an old blog post that’s been re-vamped with new up-to date techniques, a webinar of free training, it can be almost anything. Don’t think that you need to push a product in you emails, you just need to push good quality information – and the odd product in the mix won’t hurt.
Finishing of the list building section JC talks about squeeze pages, solo ads and longer sales pages – they all have the same objective but just different formats for driving traffic to your opt-in pages.
Take Away
Start list building now! Aweber have a $1 trial fora month then it’s $19 per month to be able to market to your list.. well worth the investment.
